Was thinking of getting ff8 on ps4 but I dont really want to follow up a jrpg with another jrpg

I feel like I have a nice JRPG shaped hole in my life right now, as my gaming consists mostly of racing games, punching goons and Tetris. just need to figure out which one, as a nice feel good playthrough of an old favourite might be nice, but then I could play something “new” like FF7 Remake or Persona 5 Royal…

wonder if my Vita still works so I could play Persona 4 Golden

nooooo

I really love those in-betweeny quiet bits

I think the quiet bits I can tolerate, it just feels like to me at least it’s a bit too quiet for too long, and then the bit where you have to run down all the identical looking floors of the prison and then you have to run back up again can do one

That’s the moment that will always put me off the idea of a replay

The spaceship, kill aliens in pairs bit is worse I reckon.

Well that’s the part that usually makes me quit a replay haha

Genuinely got past that part only once

Cant remember how

Reckon it might be the ideal section to turn the cheats on for in the new fancy edition.

I remember that being more annoying that terrible myself, mostly because I never use Rinoa so she’s always comically underleveled so it’s basically just Squall v Aliens

Same and if you mucked it up you were toast. Reload save try again, fail etc

hmm…

I haven’t played it in a while. I might not be so into that grind now. I just remember liking the atmos, really.

Disc 2 (aka the prison through to the fight with Edea in Galbadia Garden) is probably the weakest section of FFVIII, though it has the very funny bit where Squall’s asked to make a speech to Garden and he isn’t having any of it. But it just gets better and better after that, Disc 3 had Esthar which is really cool and Disc 4 had Ultimecia’s Castle and the final boss and the great ending.

Ok now I do kinda really fancy playing ff8 rn

I think cause its sunny. It’s a very lazy summer kind of game, I think

Yeah, I first played it in the summer of 2002

Always reminds me of the summer holidays from school, I probably first played it around the same time!

I’m listening to the FF7 Remake soundtrack in much the same way as I will occasionally go “fuck it, I’m going to listen to the FF7 soundtrack today”

FFS LADS

Only a tenner though!

I might get it cause it’s 8 quid on PS Store, and then play it when I feel like it.

Really wish FF6 was on the PS4, and also I should stress not the fucking horrible looking Steam version

I have my Playstation One port of FFVI here but remember it playing like utter shite at the time. Seemed like it wasn’t optimised one bit.

Is there a modern port that actually runs well?
