Wrong way round Pal. Crash Team is the thinking mans Kart Racer
Also yeah, I added Chocobo because I had heard of it years and years ago, forgot about it, then found it again whilst checking I hadn’t missed any obvious Kart Racers outside the big 3
Until MK8, MK64 is the one my friends and I would keep going back to. It’s dated and has its flaws, but nostalgia makes it a solid 5 from me. Never played the others sadly.
Diddy Kong Racing was the first game I played on the N64. My friend’s dad had rented one for his birthday party. It was really fun at the time but I haven’t played it since.
despite having a PS1 and an N64, and enjoying kart racers, I bizarrely never played any of these - my first Mario Kart was on the Game Boy Advance, and never been interested in playing Diddy Kong Racing or Crash Team Racing because I have no interest in Diddy Kong or Crash Bandicoot.
big Final Fantasy fan but didnt get Chocobo Racing on account of it not existing.
only thing I will say is that some of the N64 tracks have of course turned up in later Mario Karts, and Sherbet Land can absolutely fucking do one
This thread just made me remember Street Racer from the SNES/Mega Drive. I used to play it loads, but had completely forgotten about it for these past twenty or so years!
