Only played HL, HL2 and the Portals from those.

HL gets a 4/5 for being my favourite FPS (a genre I don’t really enjoy) but including Xen for some baffling reason.

Never completed HL2 because it’s so looong and there seem to be long unnecessary vehicle sections to show off how bad Valve’s driving physics were. I just wanted to mess around in City 17, not spend hours driving out of town. 3/5

Portal - perfect. Could not be improved. 5/5

Portal 2 - A welcome retread. Doesn’t quite reach the heights of the original and as Ducky says is a little longer than it needed to be, but still a solid 5/5

Portal 2 is a weird one. I’m not sure it needed the wackiness of Stephen Merchant and JK Simmons characters in it (there’s already enough comic relief from Glados and it detracts from the tone of the game a little) but I still find myself laughing at most of the script.

I’m in a lot of agreement with a lot of this sentiment. Tetris and Portal are both absolutely classics. As close to perfection as it’s possible to get.

I’d be tempted to cut the whole Cave Johnson act from the game - I think Wheatley brings value as your collaborator - but I can see why that whole section is there from a ‘lore’ perspective. It gives greater weight to Aperture and it’s history.

I know the Cake cong is more memorable but I always enjoy listening to this one more. Mainly because it makes me feel bad for Glados

I’d say the opposite tbh - Cave Johnson is a fantastic comic creation, whereas whatever Wheatley’s character’s name is just grates on me.
