Went for a 4. Lots and lots of great singles but not delved enough into their back catalogue to give a 5.
JUST. GREAT. POP
A 5 from me. I never got it, always thought they were shite. But then one day it clicked and I realised that ABBA are actually fucking brilliant. Some crap, obviously, but also some of the best, most emotionally complex pop music ever recorded. The story behind The Winner Takes It All and just SOS in general deserve a 5 on their own tbh.

Fine, but not something I get excited about.
A 5 for the riff on Gimme, Gimme, Gimme which was then of course even further immortalised by Madonna on Hung Up. A hook so strong that it supports TWO of the greatest songs of all time. Unreal

Not gonna vote on this. I’ll just say I used to hate ABBA but as I’ve hot older I’ve realised a lot of that was due to places I heard it and tribalism. They’re probably worth a 5 really…

Nah I genuinely don’t know their stuff enough. I’ve tried listening but I can’t really make it through more than a few tracks. Sort of so many parts production and so many parts over-familiarity.
But my 5 comment was really about their cross generational appeal implying they must be good.
(Always loved One Night in Bangkok but I feel like this is the ABBA equivalent of only liking How Soon Is Now from The Smiths or Fool’s Gold by the Roses, maybe?)
