Now it’s time to look at Adele Laurie Blue Adkins

Quite interested to see where this one goes, not someone we talk about much…

Ooh nice pick this Funky. She has an absolutely remarkable voice, some of the better stuff that gets Radio 1 airtime, although I think the slightly less grandiose singles towards the beginning of her career are a bit more my cup of tea. She seems quite fun too, shame she hates the idea of paying tax really isn’t it. Gone for a 4.

And mine!

My wife fucking loves Adele so I’ve heard all 3 albums enough times to never really need to again. But she has an incredible voice and some really fucking brilliant songs. The stuff on her last album and some of the middle one is a bit samey but it’s a formula that her fans love and sells records so who can blame her for sticking to it. Really wish she hadn’t said what she said about tax, because otherwise she seems like a pretty GBOL. 4. Sorry, this is basically the same post as Tuna made but I like the sound of my own voice.

This is a good 'un

Gone with a 2. Never actually disliked any of her songs I’ve heard so that would ordinarily be a 3 but I feel the tax thing was a huge misstep and it makes me worry that she’s not really paying attention. (Additional - I know her mum used to work with a good friend of mine in the 3rd sector for charities and the like so the point is that Adele absolutely SHOULD have a clue.)

Politics so affect my voting on marginals like this. I’ve never liked anything I’ve heard Charlotte Church do but I’d probably rate her 4 for her rabid vocal socialism regardless.

Good voice, few good tracks but by and large middle of the road generic tripe.

I’m sure she’s got a good voice etc but there’s no point in my life that I’m going to think “you know what I want to listen to? An Adele album.”

Echoing what others have said here. Good voice but her music is generally cynical and vacuous. Strong 2/5.

Music is not for me in anyway, but can appreciate her voice is very very good. Also seems like a total laugh from what I’ve seen, tax thing aside. 3.5/5, will round up to 4/5.

Absolutely zero interest in Adele. Have probably heard more songs than I actually know (there’s that Rolling Around In The Deep one, after that I’m struggling), but I don’t believe that I’m her target audience. My mum likes her. Nuff said.

Can’t think of anything that would make me less likely to listen to an album tbh. Even “Featuring Ed Sheeran!”

Think her last album suffered a bit in songwriting terms from her being in a different, happier personal situation and still trying to write the grand, heartbroken ballads that made her famous. It’s all a bit forced and contrived rather than sounding personal and intimate. It is quite a cynical way of working but there’s still plenty of time left for her to diversify and I think she’s capable of doing something really interesting (she very probably won’t, but still). Also really fancy her but that’s not relevant to my voting criteria!

Dreary shite who makes songs designed simply to sell records

Interesting voice used in the absolute dullest way possible. Hometown glory is an alright song. 2.

1, tax dodging ghoul.

I do not enjoy her music but she is one of the most popular artists of our times. I respect her art but it’s a 1 from me on a subjective basis.
