Yeah true, they night get a few quiet 3s or 4s and I reckon they’re one that’ll attract new voters from Google.

Funky have you got round to listening to sufjan ‘the genetic freak’ Stevens yet? He’s the absolute best

Most people think Coldplay have a handful of alright songs I think. Still be a 2 from me but they’d average high 2s I reckon

doesn’t sound like something i’m going to one, i need something to one soon. i mean, i one’d adele but it wasn’t satisfying. just a routine, going through the motions one. need a one I can savour, like animal collective or nmh or any of that shite

I’ll defend Coldplay

I’ve listened to Michigan, Illinois and Carrie and Lowell once each and thoroughly enjoyed them all, will go back over them when I remember.

Feel like we’ve made ourselves look like a bunch of elitists with this Adele score, maybe a do over tomorrow

Save it

I might start dishing out 1’s to acts I feel did not fulfil their potential

Funkhouser’s not fucking around!

Glad the Adele thread is out of the way… much prefer the threads where everyone is gushing about great the artist is. Feels more life-affirming and less like a pile-on.

(not that I didn’t participate in the pile-on - just less fun giving stuff a kicking)

Honestly think that’s a decent score - thought we’d have had a fair few 1.somethings in these threads tbh.

It’s nice that generally the positives are being highlighted e.g. here lots of people saying she has a great voice even if not much of the material matches up to it.

Definitely think the currently massively popular acts like Adele & Sheeran would do better in 10 years when people vote more with nostalgia of hearing the radio/what their parents played/first albums etc.

People who like Adele’s voice - what sort of material do you think would better highlight her talents?

(It’s an interesting question, actually, and I’m not sure what I think. A big voice like that will override most of the music it’s paired with. I think I’d quite like to hear her singing with some dark downtempo electronic influenced stuff, something like the Gutter Twins album. Or a duet record with Mark Lanegan!)

i said upthread, a more motown sort of thing like rolling in the deep and rumour has it. if she could just knock the boring generic piano ballads on the head she’d be brilliant fun
