Love that they went from …Dancefloor to this.

Singsong 'round the money tree
This stunning documentary
That no one else unfortunately saw
Such beautiful photography
It’s worth it for the opening scene
I’ve been driving 'round listening to the score
Or maybe, I just imagined it all
I’ve played to quiet rooms like this before
Bear with me, man, I lost my train of thought

TUNE.

(I’ll stop now)

The last album was superb. Always gound them dull live, although the crowd around me at Reading 2006 enjoyed them, so that made them more fun… Until Muse played an actually good show.

Was going to go 4, but might vote lower to counteract all the counteracters in this thread.

This is a genuinely great music video tbf

Reckon he’d have been like a Northern Plan B. They always said how into hip hop they were at the start so might have gone down that road.

absolutely detest that fluorescent adolescent song,
there’s a couple of tunes on the first album though

i’ve deducted a point for yr man being involved in the atrocity that are the last shadow puppets with that absolute wank miles kane

Humbug is so easily their best album, can’t believe it’s coming last

ran out of marmalade this morning so think I’ll abstain from this one.

Quite an even spread of votes across all the albums though, which I guess is a good thing.

Don’t listen to them often but always enjoy it when I do. As has been said, timing will count for a lot with these guys. The explosion of hype clashed with my peak indie snob phase so don’t they don’t hold as much sentimental value as they may have done otherwise. Objectively a great band and lyricist in Alex Turner. Think their best songs are album tracks, off the debut at least.

Florescent Adolescent reminds me of being a young idiot.

Probably helped by being on the inbetweeners.

Not to be a dickhead, but you don’t really know if they’re any good then. Right?

Really agree with this, stinks up the rest of a really decent album imo

Well, I’m judging them on the small amount of material I’ve heard, and I’m sure I’m not the first to have done such a thing.

I one’d Frank on the basis of New York New York. It’s a cruel world.

If you want to be a big star and step into the world of critical appraisal, you’ve got to take the blows when they land even if they’re ill considered and reactionary. DEAL WITH IT, FRANK!

Enjoyed a bit of the first album, can see why lots of people would have liked them and they just arrived at the right time. Subsequent albums are pretty average at best and I put them in the category of bands that I can’t understand are still so big.

That said, I’m old enough now to now to realise a lot of people like them and it’s probably just me that isn’t getting it.

Loved the first album when it came out but don’t have much interest in it anymore. Great lyrics and nice crunchy guitars but just feels so of its time that it doesn’t work for me in 2020.

By the time Favourite Worst Nightmare came out I’d sort of moved on from them, having discovered the internet and become more of a ‘have you heard of Neutral Milk Hotel?’ indie bellend so I liked a couple of tunes but otherwise didn’t pay it that much attention, but went back to it post-Humbug and found it pretty strong and more interesting than the debut (albeit with a couple of stinkers)

When Humbug came out I was really taken aback by how good Crying Lightning was given that I’d lost interest in them ages ago, couldn’t get enough of it and bought the album which was absolutely full of bangers. Rinsed it and still go back to it now and then, holds up really well.

Then thought Suck It & See sounded like a step backwards so didn’t pay it much attention. Is it worth a revisit?

Found AM quite fun when it came out and really liked R U Mine but then never really went back to it either.

Really liked Tranquility Base, I haven’t gone back to it loads but more than the last couple. A nice left turn and their most interesting album since Humbug. I seem to most enjoy the ones their biggest fans aren’t keen on.

I thought I’d probably give them a 3 but looking at that discography I don’t think I can go any lower than a 4 really.

A good band that I always forget are good.
