All downhill from Jack Names the Planets but that was a great song so… 3.

A perfectly serviceable 2 for me. Done a few great songs I love but ultimately I’ve always found them a bit dull and ‘Candy’ is fucking dreadful.

Weird one: I noticed years ago that the riff on ‘shining light’ at about 2.40 is the same as ‘i only said’ by mbv. Kevin should get a writer’s credit for that

A good singles band. They’re a nice bunch of people too.

4, even though all you really need to hear is 1977 and Intergalactic Sonic 7"s

If they came on at a festival at 5pm youd be delighted

Basically word for word my take.

They were around in 2018, you know! No, really. I loved this song, though fair enough if y’all think it sounds like Viva Brother.

I’ve changed my mind to a 3 because of just how great this song is.

The pop-punk band the indier than thou who’d never touch Blink-182, Sum 41 and Green “Give us a f@/$ing number!” Day with a 182,410 foot bargepole love to love.

But maybe there’s a good reason for that. Great songwriters, great tunes and seem a great bunch of people. 4.

Probably going to be one of those bands that people highly rate because of an association with a particular time of their life, but in the cold light of day they’re just not very good.

Some good singles, seem like a decent bunch. Nothing against them but they barely register in my consciousness. 2.5 rounded down viciously to 2.

Just seeing their name on the screen was enough to put this later absolute banger in my head, where I expect it will stay all day.

Nice lads, great way with a chorus, not important or influential but really really good fun. @Jimouthargyle I can confirm that I did see them in a late afternoon slot at a festival last year and it was highly enjoyable. 4/5

Yep, FAA is a great album but always skip that track. They probably thought they were trying to “do a Ramones” by being a ramshackle guitar band (part) covering an ultra smooth 60s pop “standard” but didn’t realise that joke was only funny once.

But though they may have reinvented the anthemic mildly punky indie-pop wheel, the Vaccines chewed the wheel up, spat it out and melted it down into white-hot strips of pure musical perfection.

A very solid 3
