In the UK? Highly unlikely - they’re either a generic classic rock cover band or generic an indie cover band. A Pearl Jam cover is unlikely in either scenario. And if the band plays originals they will almost certainly somehow still sound like Oasis.

Come the Pearl Jam thread I will be joylessly fact checking all lazy shade throwing posts. No one will enjoy this.

Much like listening to a Pearl Jam record

A workmanlike tap in but I guess they all count.

it’s a 2 from me

was a massive Metal Head at the time and getting into Warp Records when they were popular, so not really my thing, but was under the impression they could knock a tune together (I think I bought Jesus Says on cd single)

In terms of the actual sound though, that weird gutteral divorce court voice and the sludgy mid tempo churning of the instruments. They may as well be a rolling stones covers band in that sense.

Best Ash logo:

They’re all a bit naff but I have a thing for tailed-a’s so the OG logo wins.

Here’s some more of my favourites that are the more classic Ash sound

The stones are an odd comparison as while they might be accused of being a mid tempo plodders I’m not sure anyone’s accused them of being sludgy. And Jagger doesn’t suffer from any singing-with-a-mouthful-of-marbles Vedderisms. I’ll save my weird-hill-to-die-on Pearl Jam defence for their thread but while I don’t expect to convince anyone of their merits I will insist we end up with 100% accurate, watertight comparisons.

I have the same fairly irrational dislike of Pearl Jam. For some reason I hated the ubiquity of some grunge bands around 1993-1994. Not Nirvana though thought they were still ok.

Yeah I also hated Pearl Jam when all of that exploded, but their third album Vitalogy has some tunes on it. It’s an interesting sound they explore.

Badmotorfinger is easy, easy my favourite record from the grunge era. Probably because its heavily influence by Sabbath, and pretty fucking trippy in parts. And Cornell is exploding from his lungs and not all moany & groany and feeling sorry for himself. Badmotorfinger rules :metal:

Literally no difference between Pearl Jam and Creed

if there’s a pearl jam thread, it will be the most painful one of these for me

was listening to Yellow Ledbetter yesterday, didn’t quite strike me before how the lyrics are almost entirel incomprehensible. great song!

*3 albums, but The Green Album doesn’t exist

Spin the Black Circle was listenable I thought - although wasn’t keen on his kind of vocals on what was essentially a punk record.

I was just too precious of my British indie at the time - I always maintained that NWONW was better than grunge

There are hundreds of differences. And I will list them all in painstaking detail.

Difference the first: Creed are called ‘Creed’, Pearl Jam are called ‘Pearl Jam’.

actually curious to know if there’s anyone on here who would attempt to defend creed

Vocally they’re identical

I see some conversations suggesting that “grunge” is a thing has popped up again.
