Yeah I like them (haven’t listened to them in years!). I’m more of Pete Stahl fan than Sunn0)))), like pretty much all of his bands… Scream, Wool, the first few Desert Sessions,etc That first earthlings? album is an ‘underrated classic’ I think!

Tricky one this. All the above critiques are relevant - lack of substance, extremely patchy after their first few records, weak lyrics - but can’t help hover over a strong three, light four. I grew up with them, and they sound-tracked lots of fantastic moments in my life. Oh Yeah, Girl From Mars, Goldfinger, Kung Fu, Walking Barefoot, Sometimes, A Life Less Ordinary, Burn Baby Burn, Angel Interceptor, Jack Names The Planets, Shining Light, Nicole, Projects, Wild Surf, Clones. They’re all absolute BANGERS mate. 4

I wouldn’t say he’s a weak lyricist, its not like he’s Brian Molko levels, I think most of the time they’re fine to good with some great turns of phase, they rarely make me cringe. Although I’ve never liked Clones cos of the awful clones/drones/stone/etc rhyming.
