I think the Counting Crows one might kill me. With the obvious exceptions of many Pumpkins albums, I would honestly take August and Everything After or Recovering the Satellites over any album by any artist we’ve done so far.

Reading back my post sounds a little gruff, wasn’t intended that way.
Cheers

What’s that song on the album with Mr Jones that isn’t Mr Jones? When I was travelling round Europe I met some Australian buskers who played that song all day long and it was fucking terrible.

I really think the first time I heard that album it permanently changed something in my brain. I’m going to be defending them just as hard as the Pumpkins if there’s an HGATR for them.

Had a geography teacher who liked them, and yet somehow I’ve never heard them

Hmm actually that might have been Crowded House who I’ve also never heard but are probably the same band

It really is. There’s so much emotion and intensity, it sounds like he’s going to jump out of his skin. Both it and August and Everything After are all time top ten for me.

Saw Counting Crows live in Wolverhampton circa the 2nd album. Only went as a rep from their label gave me 2 tickets, but they were really good. Politest fans ever also, I recall one song where the venue fell so silent for a part of one song where the singer pounds his heart twice and you could hear him do it un-miked it was so hushed. Fans collective felt like a Grateful Dead crew but moved a generation on that had digested every Simpsons episode going.

hmm to me this is that level of inoffensiveness that’s quite painful

now to listen to a counting crows song
