Not gonna bring them up again the Lizzo thread for fear of derailing but I was doing some reading into Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance and aside from all the obvious 70s rock references, the other big one they cited is Smashing Pumpkins. Just thought you might want to know

Such an amazing song, people don’t realize how energetic and charged they could be. That build to the solo through the whole “READ ME LIKE AN OPEN BOOK” screaming part is one of my favorite sequences in music. Might be the best winter running song too.

I really need to give them a shot, it might have to wait until the pandemic is over though. I think my wife would divorce me if she heard me listening to them.

Children in Bloom is another great one I use for that. It was never a favorite growing up but as time went on I grew to love it. There’s such a unique pulsing energy in it, and that outro is massive.

don’t you have headphones?

My ears could never handle them well, I start feeling like I’m going deaf. I used to wear them for running but had to give them up.

Does he harbour a similar disdain for The Vaccines?

Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Counting Crows are better than most of the bands that have already been covered. Slayer too in all honesty.

I like Alice In Chains and I shall be scoring them favourably in the event they should garner a HGATR thread.

Jar of Flies in particular. It’s great fun to gently stir the pot with loyal music fans and see the reaction, which sometimes is more like poking a hornets nest!

Raskulinecz is really good. IIRC he’s basically the guy you go to when you want to ‘self-produce’ but need a capable pair of hands overseeing things. Foo Fighters is the glaring omission from that list

it was copied from a wiki list, a list that began, “Other than the Foo Fighters he’s also worked with…”, I didn’t bother including them as they wouldn’t have brought anything to the nu metal chat.

Fair. Although…Ghost?

yeah, they were part of the list. The list wasn’t exclusively nu metal, and to be fair we were talking about grunge and other heavy genres, and Ghost are definitely more funny than Foo Fighters

Last time I saw them play live a few of The Undertones joined them onstage for Buzzkill then Teenage Kicks. It was a radio friendly version of Buzzkill though as the beeb had it on radio/telly too.

The producer of nu clear sounds is on come dine with me right now.
