3, they’re absolutely fine. I went in big on Trailer when it was released, absolutely loved it. Kung Fu and Girl From Mars promised so much and then 1977 dropped and I was bitterly disappointed. Just didn’t engage with me and I’m not sure why.So I then just lost my way with them. A few bangers for singles (Burn Baby Burn, A Life Less Ordinary) piqued a bit of interest, but then absolute plodding, rubbish (Candy, Shining Light) quickly watered that interest down again. That reads like a 2, but, BUT, I saw them at a festival about 10 years back and it was almost 100% solid-gold bangers. Such good fun.
Summer of '95 was also good fun. Seeing them at the tiny Penny Theatre in Canterbury on one of the hottest days of the year was absolutely bonkers. The room itself has such a lower ceiling that you’d actually be in danger of cracking your head if you pogo’ed too hard. We’d also got in on a guest list so was able to escape to the back-stage courtyard. Mark genuinely looked like he was going to die when he stumbled off stage.
