Wait, Sparta have a new record? Awesome! I thought they’d split!

“Trust the River”, 2020

isn’t that like, the penultimate track

Oh bugger! :grinning: I meant Rolodex Propaganda, track 8.

Any good?

but Cosmonaut’s the best one

I often stick on Cosmonaut as an individual track. It is indeed awesome. But because of the exhausting production, when I’m listening to the record from beginning to end, I rarely get to Cosmonaut.

I think its pretty decent. It’s not going to blow you away or owt, but is a good listen. I found it much more enjoyable than i remember finding anything the first time round.

Was a lot better that what little i heard of the last atdi lp for sure

(i haven’t revisited after the initial listens upon release mind)

Nah I feel ya, mentioned it upthread but I generally reach for in/casino/out or Vaya these days, RoC is strictly if I want to or am pumped up for something these days

Vaya’s production is incredible. So spacious and detailed.

yay, another band(s) i know!

5s from me.

Understand people struggling with the mars volta, they’re a bit marmite but, for me, built on the awesome sounds of ATDI with added complexity and experimentation. Inanely complex and impressive structures and playing. Such an interesting band.

At the 5-In (…well at least a very solid 4 anyway).

I suspect I’d probably quite like The Mars Volta and had hoped I’d find some time to listen to more of their stuff that people have been recommending. Unfortunately haven’t managed to do so will have to abstain for them.

Just listen to this one track from this point and base your 5 on that.

Don’t think this one’s been mentioned yet, it’s nuts. Love that off-kilter rhythm guitar.

Interesting how many people are saying this. Ear fatigue has been a barrier for me with getting into a lot of heavier music but with Relationship of Command there’s no problem at all. It’s definitely loud and relentless, but their songwriting is so dynamic that it never feels like a brick wall of noise.

Just brilliant song assembly here, love how everything pieces together.

Debut album is 10/10 and I won’t hear otherwise. Listen to it all the bloody time, still.
