Same. I dismissed it when it came out but returned to it about 3 years ago and now probably listen to it once a fortnight. Seriously underrated album.

I like that they talk like they are from new york

Love check your head and other songs here and there but not really into they that much.
Saw their funk set at the Electric Picnic that just became the punk bangers set after 20 minutes.
That was fucking great

The first concert id go to if I had a time machine

That intro and first track are just nuts

I know most people really rate Paul’s Boutique but I’ve always been a fan of Hello Nasty which is 50% incredible (but 50% meh).

And I love the video for Triple Trouble with a very confused Kanye West at the end

No, 5 Boroughs is great!

I like them more than the music itself if that makes sense. Grand Royal magazine. X-Large, the videos, their clothes. The music I can take or leave pretty much - they are not very good at rapping. Paul Revere is an amazing track though, and I listen to Paul’s Boutique now and again, and Licensed to Ill actually just because some of the production is still amazing.

3 or 4 for me.

Nearly started crying tears of joy when they kicked into ‘Super Disco Breakin’. Will watch the whole thing when I can.

A lot of my friends were at this, I could have gone, but Mercury Rev and the Flaming Lips were playing in Edinburgh that night, so I went to that instead. which was good too, but still…

As I recall, Fugazi were playing in Edinburgh too that night, oddly enough.

Straight 5.

You could level that some albums are clearly better than others but in this instance all is forgivable.

I bought Paul’s Boutique day one and could not believe how good it was after that (still great) straight up Hip Hop of the times debut.

Check Your Head likewise knocked my socks off incorporating new infusions of style and organic play. This was matured on Ill Communication but I prefer Check Your Head to that.

They tail off a little after this but every release is to be celebrated.

Worldwide treasures.

(Do a Joy Division one next please)…

5/5. Quite partial to the Some Old Bullshit comp album of all their early EPs when they were a hardcore band.

Not much else to add, slapped Ill Communication on now as it’s my fave.

I grew up in Plymouth. Travis played there, once.

I saw (and danced onstage with) Flaming Lips in Plymouth. There was occasionally someone good in between all the dross. Also Doves supported Travis at that gig.

I grew up in Barnsley. Earthtone 9 played* there once.

*gig cancelled due to lack of interest
