Haha in an HGATR thread that was called illegally.

that councilman uttered an essential truth, it’s going to echo through the ages, not least in that misquote

you’ve got to allow for covid fucking with how we all absorb/talk about music also, at least for the last year. No one seeing bands, no one roping their friends into seeing them, no chance for a live performance to turn you from a fan to A FAN etc etc

obviously that’s just one year out of the general trend you saw, but will be relevant for right now anyway

Didn’t have time to post in the week but did vote 5.

I liked the first two albums but didn’t love them. Then went to see them at Green Man 17 but left after 15 mins as I was finding them a bit annoying.

Quite slowly I came to love UFOF and got into the first two albums more. Saw them at Green Man 19, on the main stage this time, and it was the highlight of my weekend. Really love Two Hands also.

I find it really weird that people can see them as “just an indie folk band” with songs that stick out from the rest as being their best, when the only album I would say is folky is UFOF and that has a lot of unique and strange takes on a folk sound, and I see the albums as being very consistent.

Definitely my favourite current band.

Gonna have a whole binge today as I’m in work along cleaning/stock taking today, but we didn’t even really discuss how amazing her solo work is too:

These are real slow burners. Never heard them or heard of them before this thread. Initially I found them quite wishy-washy but persistence pays off and there a lot of depth and power in their sparse sounds.

Really like when they crank it up or wig out and the U.F.O.F. album is an early pick as my favourite so far. Will continue listening.

Is blind pilot American…?

Eh?

Sorry I just had a discogs order for a record I sent to America, it was a blind pilot record ordered for a birthday, thought it might be the same person.

Oh ha, no, coincidence, our one is from Preston via Glasgow

Righto! Weird coincidence!

Anyway, that Big Thief eh? Pretty great band I reckon.
