Didn’t have time to post in the week but did vote 5.

I liked the first two albums but didn’t love them. Then went to see them at Green Man 17 but left after 15 mins as I was finding them a bit annoying.

Quite slowly I came to love UFOF and got into the first two albums more. Saw them at Green Man 19, on the main stage this time, and it was the highlight of my weekend. Really love Two Hands also.

I find it really weird that people can see them as “just an indie folk band” with songs that stick out from the rest as being their best, when the only album I would say is folky is UFOF and that has a lot of unique and strange takes on a folk sound, and I see the albums as being very consistent.

Definitely my favourite current band.

Gonna have a whole binge today as I’m in work along cleaning/stock taking today, but we didn’t even really discuss how amazing her solo work is too:

These are real slow burners. Never heard them or heard of them before this thread. Initially I found them quite wishy-washy but persistence pays off and there a lot of depth and power in their sparse sounds.

Really like when they crank it up or wig out and the U.F.O.F. album is an early pick as my favourite so far. Will continue listening.

Is blind pilot American…?

Eh?

Sorry I just had a discogs order for a record I sent to America, it was a blind pilot record ordered for a birthday, thought it might be the same person.

Oh ha, no, coincidence, our one is from Preston via Glasgow

Righto! Weird coincidence!

Anyway, that Big Thief eh? Pretty great band I reckon.

If he pops up he does have a story about seeing them in Seattle

I resent that accusation.

Lovely write-up pal, couldn’t agree more with the sentiments. They’re a very, very special band, and as clear a 5/5 I can think of for any act from the last decade for me.

My story about seeing them in Seattle is pretty much just that I saw them in Seattle tbf.

It was on my honeymoon, with tickets bought about an hour before doors on a total whim, and it was probably the most beautiful gig I’ve ever been too for embellishment. They opened with Adrienne singing Mary unaccompanied with the band slowly joining her, and it was utterly wonderful.

And yet not even worth a like

Me posting on the music board is worth way more than a measly like buddy x
