Used to love them but don’t really listen these days. Never fully got into anything post blur to be honest. Blur is probably my favourite, can still listen to the odd song from before that but generally they all sound a bit to dated/british.

Saw them live a few times - once being at a warm up show for glastonbury in 98 at the q club - 300 capacity. They were insane. Everyone was properly excited and they were really party. Great gig. Idlewild supported also which was nice

Always thought that s/t was the most overrated of the Blur cannon. By no means bad, and the highs are incredible. But out of their classics I find it to be the one with the most filler. Country Sad Ballad Man, On Your Own, I’m Just a Killer for Your Love, Look Inside America. And as mentioned above, quite a few of those tracks have arguably aged worse than anything on Parklife

I remember spending what was a fortune to teenage me on a Japanese import of that Bustin + Dronin CD. Think I thought I’d be getting my hands on this great rarity at the time…

Nardwuar can be a right annoying prick though e.g. the time he interviewed Steve Albini and handed him a copy of Kurt Cobains journals and just asked him about Kurt over and over and over and over in a very annoying/pushy way.

Was at the right age to spend my formative years rinsing Parklife and The Great Escape, and later Modern Life Is Rubbish. Can still listen to all of that with warm nostalgia, marvelling at He Thought of Cars and stomaching Tracy Jacks.

Be Here Now had made me turn my back on Oasis, but I was still too much of a boater hat wearing noob to fully appreciate the Blur album at the time. Far and away my favourite now… mindblowing that Charmless Man and Beetlebum are consecutive singles from the same band.

Loved Coffee+TV but never got the fuss about Tender, so tuned out at that point (13) and never really tuned back in.

Worth reading this too;

Reckon it’s a bit much holding something like that against someone nearly 20 years later when they’ve apologised for it and given such candid details on the state of their mental health at the time.

(But people can do so if they want, of course)

Yes, I thought I was well cool because I owned a Japanese Blur import (one of about five CDs that I owned). Love the Tortoise remix of Theme from Retro. Still not entirely sure that it features anything from the original though. Maybe that’s the joke? Crazy Tortoise humour

I used to covet the Japanese import of Parklife with the flashing LED eyes on the greyhounds whenever a rare copy would pop up in HMV, but funds never allowed me to pick it up.

4/5 for me. An amazing band but some really crap in there to.

I remember being at Féile 94 and my friends were so excited to see them, I thought it was going to be a load of indie bollox and boy was I wrong. They blew me away.

Seen them live so many times and they were always fantastic, top stuff.
