oh and fuck you @anon19035908 imagine doing the HGATR Dylan on a fucking wednesday?! This should have been a friday so i could have ignored it all day, got in from work, opened some wine, rolled a doob and bored you all senseless all night as i got steadily more stoned and drunk talking about how amazing dylan is. :grinning:

Well will you look at that! I was looking on the web player. On the app, both laptop and phone all the albums are there. Weird. Thanks for pointing that out.

Surprised by all of the Billy Corgan chat in this Bob Dylan thread.

Billy Corgan is a braver and more inventive musician than Bob Dylan I think

That’s right. Who can forget the calls of ā€˜judas’ raining down on him when he made the incredibly brave switch from excellent guitar-based alt-rock to shite guitar-based alt-rock.

Bob Dylan is a fucking fake motherfucker who doesn’t believe any of the shit he writes about

I don’t know enough of Bob Dylan’s stuff to rate him fairly. Whether it’s his fault or not, he’s the ultimate ā€œbands today don’t write about anything meaningfulā€ go-to for aging dads who basically need a chorus of ā€œwar is badā€ for a song to register as about something.

I do like Boots of Spanish Leather though.

Obviously Billy Corgan has made clunky tracks but I absolutely believe he is invested in the music he makes and there’s an emotive core there

There are literally twelve threads about this.

I mean the guy literally sits around with shades on thinking of aloof things to say. It’s such a shame, musicians could have been so different, more like real people if it wasn’t for his influence

My dad loves Bob Dylan.Think he’s seen him live about 50 times or something. At the drop of a hat he likes to recite the story about the time he met him at Rhoose airport in Cardiff and they had a coffee and a chat.

My uncle - a proper Dylan obsessive - was also there but waiting in the wrong part of the airport and missed him. He burst into tears when he found out.

Yeah he’s written some great songs but it’s so insulting that we have to believe he was the first person to think about singing about things, like nobody had any idea what art was before Bob Dylan came along. That kind of thing just exists to grind ordinary people down and make them feel they are in a different category to the pantheon of artists the world has accepted

Uncle’s an obsessive to the point where he used to see him about 10 times on every European tour, and secretly record shows to trade on tape via post pre-internet and stuff.

Naturally my dad finds this story very funny.

I had to do it on a day off so I could listen to Dylan all day! Thread’ll still be open on Friday my friend, always like hearing your thoughts on the great man.

Even the civil rights activism songs of the early 60s?

personally don’t believe he was that invested in those, maybe during the time which he was writing them

Or the divorce albums, the love songs, even the fucking religious stuff is at least sincere.
