Only know Genie in a Bottle, which is great, Fighter, which is good, and What a Girl Wants, which is bad, and I assume everything else is rubbish else I’d have heard of it.

Am I wrong?

Gut says 2 for the two good songs but I’m open to move it up if it turns out there’s loads of great material there.

Yeah TBF I have heard Genie in a Bottle but I know Weird Al’s Weenie in a Bottle much better…

Beautiful is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard in my life.

Accelerate is a tune.

I like Mariah Carey’s music, but I find the vocal acrobatics she does on everything distracting. I find Christina’s impression of them even more annoying. Despite her being around forever, I’ve never really got a strong sense of personality from her, just seems like a very smartly manufactured pop star. She can sing, but I don’t like her singing. She has some decent songs, but no really good ones. She’s done a good job from being the girl they were desperate to shoehorn in as the next Britney to having a pretty long career in an industry that makes those hard for young women, but in 20 odd years, I can’t say I’ve gotten much from her music. Its a 2/5.

Ugh - instant shudders. The soundtrack to every horrible cattle market club I was ever dragged to between 1999 and 2002. It might well bang to Venus and beyond but I can’t shake the grim association of Destiny’s nightclub and 2 for 1 WKD blue.

(not to target you - just highlighting the ruinous effect that teenage drinking had on my ability to connect to this track)

I recently read Patty Schemel’s autobiography. In it she said that Linda Perry originally wrote Beautiful for Courtney Love to record, before deciding to give it to Aguilera.

I really like her as a person and I am sure she will be a big deal to people but that is a honking list of singles
A generous 2

I really did not like her at her peak because extremely sheltered and pious 10 year old Pervo thought she looked a bit grubby :see_no_evil: always loved Dirrty though, pretty sure I like all 5 singles from Stripped these days. And Genie in a Bottle/Candyman/Ain’t No Other Man are tunes too. Oh and Lady Marmalade is CLASS, fucking love that shit. But I’m a bit concerned I’ve never heard anything she’s released post 2006.

3/5 for me I think.

This.

From Candyman down that list is “wuh?”

agree with all of this.

Think I only know four of the songs listed. Two are rubbish (Genie… and Beautiful), one is fine but I’d never choose to listen to it (Dirty) and one is a cover (Lady Marmaloid). Like with Britney, I was never the target audience, so it feels a bit churlish to dish out a low score. But I’ve done it for others, so she’s getting a 2 because I don’t despise her like the acts I’ve dished out the 1s to.

Good singer but 100% didn’t have the songs to back it up outside of a couple of immitidley banging singles

I save the 1s for artists that have no songs i like. I like genie in the bottle, dirty and ain’t no other man so its a
