That sure is a lot of songs that don’t exist.

Always hated them - 1

The first album is good, they’ve some great songs over their career and brilliant live.

3 I guess.

The first album is best overall, but every so often get obsessed with Racing Rats and have to play it over and over. So put that as my favourite song. A sprinkling of great songs over the next few albums.

Probably somewhere between a 3 and a 4.

Saw them for ÂŁ2 at a student night before the first album came out, saw them again at Rescue Rooms a bit later on and it was very good.

Don’t know how they don’t get jcb’d into the pile of landfill indie of the era. 1

Massive in mainland Europe aren’t they?

1st band I ever saw at Glastonbury. 1st album was alright and there were bits of the 2nd I like. I just don’t care that much probably same as Bloc Party 2/5.

1 for the music but 5 for coming on here and engaging etc so a 3

Not heard enough of their stuff to vote. “Munich” is decent and they were good live at The Cure gig in Hyde Park a few years back. Remember hearing the “You don’t need this disease” song and thinking his voice didn’t compensate for the shite lyrics.

Oh shit. They still got an account

I enjoyed the first album a fair bit when it came out, but I soured on them after seeing them a couple of times. The first time I saw them, the frontman (Tom?) had some trouble with his guitar during a song. He fiddled with it a bit, before pulling it off and angrily throwing it to the ground to continue the song without it. Fair enough, I thought, heat of the moment, big gig, no wonder he’s worked up. Fast forward six months or so and I’m watching them again, and would you believe it, exactly the same problem reoccurred at exactly the same point in exactly the same song! What are the odds? I went right off them after that, it all felt very cynical (and tbh I was probably annoyed at myself for being taken in). Did give the second album a listen w, and it was okay but unexceptional. Didn’t like the third at all, and haven’t listened to anything since.

They have four albums more than I realised. 3 - good stuff about 15 years ago and I assume they’ve been ok since

You know, live they’re a great band. Saw them supporting the cure. Did 45 minutes and fucked off. Great set, they put on a brilliant show too.

Outside of some dreadful lyrics they’ve got some bangers across their first couple albums too. Lot of shite since then of course.

3/5

Some good stuff on the the first album, Blood especially. Loved it at the time (before I discovered Interpol) and regret not going to see them touring it in Derry, but I think I’d only heard Bullets at the time of that show.

Brother bought the second album which I found a bit boring aside from the title track. Disappointing.

Other brother bought the third album which I’ve only heard properly once or twice but thought it was interesting that they went a bit New Order. Really liked Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool but don’t remember much else.

Then I think the guitarist who was always the most interesting thing about them left? Only track I remember hearing by the new lineup was A Ton Of Love which was very Echo & the Bunnymen and was ‘fine’ I guess.

New guitarist is also in Mastersystem though who I like a lot so maybe I should try some more?

Probably won’t.

Proper partridge shrug about them. 2/5

Always try to watch a couple of posted videos when it’s an artist I’ve never heard a thing by so will do that. But yep abstain. Also abstained from Flying Lotus btw.

That is a hilariously bad picture of the band

Was surprised to find out Blanck Mass had done work with them, not just a remix record but also helping produce their last record:

Might actually have to listen to that one. No real opinion about them otherwise.

They play the largest venue in the city when they come to Amsterdam - 15,000 people. Wembley size.
