Making this a super big tangent, but just found some cool Kozelek trivia:
- Wop A Din Din is about his cat and how much he loves her
- This is My Dinner includes parts about flying home to see her one last time before she dies
- It also has a part about how how beautiful Alesund in Norway is and also how people shouldn’t overanalyse his songs and ask who “the girl” he’s talking about is
- Then, in the song Alesund, the mystery girl is singing along to one of his lyrics in the crowd - “There’s so much love that I wanna cry”, which is from … Wop A Din Din

He’s fucking huge in Ireland.
In fact there was a huge debacle when he announced 5 shows in ireland’s equivalent to Wembley. Residents put in an objection because there are only 3 gigs a year (I think) legally allowed there, led to a huge stand off and the gigs were pulled.
About 10% of the population were lined up to go.
No wonder same sex marriage, divorce and abortion were illegal in this country for so long.
Having said that, why shoot the local economy in the foot by pulling the gigs? I was quite looking forward to all the fuckwits hitting the capital and leaving me alone for a few days.

I gave him a 4. Obviously a massive twat, but I think he’s important and my dad used to play him to me so I grew to like him (Elvis, not my dad - I liked the latter instinctively)
