5/5 just for being amazing in maybe the silliest Bond film (that’s a lot of competition).

(I also have always enjoyed her music.)

Grace Jones and Dolph Lundgren as a power couple is a whole 5/5 thing of its own

Abstain as I’ve never really heard anything. Absolute icon though

Haven’t heard much outside the singles, but she was absolutely outstanding that time she headlined Latitude, unbelievable stuff. 5/5 just for the hula hooping.

All of the damn 5s for Warm Leatherette, Nightclubbing, and the time she guested at a Robert Logan gig at Taylor John’s House (now The Tin Music & Arts) in Coventry.

Just look at that list of singles

5 all day long

What an absolute banger. Going to need to listen to Nightclubbing, Warm Leatherette and Slave to the Rhythm again today.

Also the way she started her glorious Primavera set dressed like the witch king

She played some new songs at Meltdown last week…the last gap between albums was 19 years so I’m not giving up hope on another album just yet.

FIVE.

What an icon.
Some absolutely amazing music and a lot of it still sounds fresh.
An under rated voice. Her version of La Vie En Rose …
Great live and very funny.

It was my proper introduction to her music but Island Life has to be one of the best compilation albums around. If anyone needs a proper taster:

I now have to join a workshop when I could be listening to Grace all day. Meh.

Going to abstain. Love her personality, what she represents, the aesthetic etc, so would really like to get into her properly at some point. But I put on ‘Nightclubbing’ a couple of months ago expecting to sink into it and it left me oddly cold. Just found it… boring?

Anyone have any starting points/key tracks/albums, I’d be much obliged.

Edit: Maybe that starting point is Island Life, per above.

Not very familiar with her music, in fact I hadn’t heard any of it until Music League started, but the three songs I’ve heard from that were all great, and I think Nightclubbing is an all time great record sleeve. Hope to clear some time to listen to an album or two later.

Didn’t realise Nightclubbing was a cover until really recently. But yeah, obvious 5.

The proper unabridged version of the Slave to the Rhythm album is fucking brilliant. Love it.

Nightclubbing is a mega album too.

She’s brill.

All the 5s. An icon & a hero and a true one-of-a-kind

Incredible back catalogue too

Spent a couple of evenings with her in Moscow back in 2006. That was a trip

I put Nipple to the Bottle on here too

Unrelated, but found out hanging on the telephone is cover last night. Blown my mind

Unsure how to justify anything lower than a 5. Pull Up To The Bumper could be dropped anywhere in any DJ set and it would go off. My favourite tune might be this…
