Lots of these bands end up with a lot more bangers than I’d thought when I see the singles poll. Green Day end up with fewer.

Couple of fun songs but meh. 2.

I wonder what @tre_cools_sticks will give them

Also imagine being involved in a photo like the one in OP in your 40s. Horrific

Yeah I feel bad giving them a 2 because they seem like a good guys and have some great tracks but I just have never got excited about them.

(kinda ageist TBH, isn’t it?)

I mean it’s bad enough for a teenager but they have youthful folly as mitigation

I feel like blame the game not the player. This is what people who do rock shoots ask for.

Pretty much the definition of 3/5 aren’t they?

I’ll blame both, ta

Everything up until American Idiot is wonderful.

I grew less interested the more overblown and pompous their songs get.

They’ll get a low score on DIS though because pop punk is the devil apparently.

I’m giving them a 3. Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning all have some brilliant hooks.

Also good politics.

4 from me for purely nostalgic reasons. I was massively into Green Day around the age of 13-18 (pre the indie bore years) or so and still have a lot of love for Dookie in particular. Obviously everything after the best of is pretty shite (American Idiot has it’s moments I guess) but the run of 90s albums they put out was fucking great. Also, When I Come Around is, along with Dammit, the absolute peak of the genre.

Glad they split up at exactly the right time - Reading Festival 2004. I remember they played a barn storming set including a cover of that American Idiot song that was popular around that time.

Were a big band for me in my teens, a lot of memories of underage nights out at shitty (great) rock clubs where they seemed to compose an entire 3rd of the playlisy.

Saw them live 4 times - each one great, although I did notice how much younger the crowd seemed to be getting by the 4th time.

There is some serious buried treasure on Warning by the way. Blood Sex and Booze and Misery are both outstanding.

Rarely listen these days - still waiting for their left turn into abstract electronica so I can dive back in. Can’t give them anything less than a 4, for the memories.

Basket Case is overrated.

Was weird to read that Time Of Your Life was an attack on an ex-girlfriend given it’s viewed in a totally different light now.

3/5 - decent band until 2004, then totally lost it after that.

International Superhits is bloody brilliant

there’s no way Brain Stew/Jaded will ever be separate songs.

Absolutely despised them. Made me an outcast from even the outcasts at school that I didn’t like them and they were impossible to escape.

Also my brother used the fact that I couldn’t bear listening to them for some mild sibling torture.

Waiting is there only passable song, everything else actually makes me feel a bit sick.
