Another 3 based on their live act. Overpromoted too soon, like Fontaines and their whole contemporaries in the manufactured post-punk revival scene. Pure astroturfing from a dying music industry desperate to market to young straight lads just self-aware enough who know they probably shouldn’t like Oasis any more but still kind of do

The first two albums are good, and I didn’t mind the earnest heart on sleeve lyrics or delivery, they are also very good live, but the new album and behaviour around it was so bad it’s made me question whether any of it was any good in the first place.

I’ll still give them a 4 for now regardless but only because there was a time a couple years ago when I thought they were genuinely brilliant but I think everyone, including the band themselves, got burnt out pretty quickly.

Preferred their earlier stuff. The intensity of the live shows in smaller venues like the Louisiana, Clwb etc was incredible and they seemed to start playing bigger venues really quickly and lost something in the process. Rinsed the first two albums but have listened to Ultra Mono once out of curiosity and have no real desire to to that again. I think the over exposure and massive amount of different versions of the same thing they were releasing put me off a bit, that and the decline in the last album.
