God that’s what it reminded me of - thank you!!
Argh! Hate it when the first songs released from an album are the first tracks on it. One is fine. 2 is irritating. 3 is taking things too far.
Deal with it, Coop. How do you think us Stones fans feel?
I don’t mind it. I remember Roddy from Idlewild once saying that the first single from an album should be the opening song because that should be always the first song people hear (although he has not stuck to this rule in the years since)
Case dependent, but the fact that 1. these singles aren’t terrible and 2. it’s just the first few songs on the album rather than necessarily the absolute pick of the tracks, has me more interested in an Interpol album than I have been in about 20 years
I didn’t say I didn’t like them. I agree, these songs give us hope!
it’s more that when it’s out in full you’re waiting for the fourth track to get a hint of if the quality is going to be maintained.
I wish I’d not said what I said now ![]()
I sort of agree with you - sometimes it feels then there’s an “EP” at the start I’ve listened to loads of times and then the “new album”.
On the other hand I sometimes like the fact I can skip ahead to track 4 for the uninterrupted new stuff
The songs are okay but I’m not getting any impression that the new album will be some type of comeback as suggested in that Guardian interview.
Did you listen to their previous one?
Yes.
This sounds like Pet Sounds compared to that
