There were a couple of good songs on Maurader tbf (The Rover and NYSMAW at least), but I remember almost nothing from the last album
Everything after Renegade Hearts is the musical equivalent of a shrug.
Itās my favourite of theirs.
A good time to rank. Some strong lines of agreement.
Turn on the Bright Lights - 9.5
Antics - 9
Our Love To Admire - 9
This Mirror Weighs a Ton - 8.5 (potentially, more in time)
El Pintor - 8
Interpol - 6
Marauder - 5
The Other Side of Make-Believe - 3
Rangers supporter in dead wrong shocker
Arsehole being an arsehole shocker.
Turn on the Bright Lights - 9
Antics - 9
Our Love to Admire - 6
others - n/a
new one - I am listening intently but itās too soon to be ranking
Forgot Maurader was even a thing
El Pintor is absolutely underated.
Bright Lights > Antics > OLTA > The new one > El Pintor > the other guff
Heard the new song and it gave me strong Bark Psychosis and Talk Talk vibes.
No need for that level of aggression.
If youāre going to bring an unwarranted, in my own case, stereotype into a thread where it has absolutely no relevance, I think itās hard to put your hands up and say āFoul, ref?ā
Maybe Iām wrong, who can say.
Didnāt mean it on any kind of level deeper than casual football banter. If you feel you have deeper reasons to feel bad about the club you support, thatās obviously for you to deal with on your own time.
My broader point was that I wouldnāt mind if the likes of Not Even Jail, Cāmere and Take You on a Cruise were to disappear from the setlist, especially if it were to be in favour of a few tastefully chosen cuts from the later albums. Thereās gems from the self-titled and El Pintor that they never played even when those were the albums they were touring
What a thoroughly daft way to say you have deep seated prejudices about the fans of a football club and therefore must bring it into totally unrelated discussions to tar someone who doesnāt fit your narrow views for⦠reasonsā¦
Anyway, enjoy your night.
Sorry fellow Interpol peeps Iāll draw a line under this now.
Thatās the last time I rank a bandās discography.
New record is great. Does drop off a little towards the end, but starts very, very strong. I like it.
I said it before but the last song literally goes nowhere after a few mins and it sounds like theyāve genuinely just given up
This is the best song on the second album because itās the one that sounds the most like the first album
But weirdly feels as if it goes on a bit too long (live especially) in a way I wouldnāt feel about anything from TOTBL. It takes all kinds!
That song is largely responsible for me buying an Ebow as a teenager so if anything I think it doesnāt go on long enough
No need for that mate
