And the fully updated playlist

Great talent but rarely feel the urge to listen to him. Not sure if the slightly less ubiquitous songs are the best or if it just helps that I’ve not been horrifically overexposed to them. A generous 3 for me.

Fully expect some 1s from various corners and I’m OK with it.

I’ve never knowingly heard Hendrix

Great guitarist, music mainly just OK. A 3.

Easy 5. There’s a bit of guff on the albums obviously but between the hits and the incredible Band of Gypsies stuff he’s a phenomenon.

4 from me, might revise to a 5 after I listen to some on the way to work. Went through a massive Hendrix phase when I was about 15/16. Don’t listen to him much anymore but still, an astoundingly good musician and some truly brilliant music. Does descend into overlong psychedelic wankery a bit sometimes but hey, it was the 60s. Voted Crosstown Traffic as best song, but tempted to change it to ‘Other’ for ‘Izabella’. Also, Live At The Fillmore East is the second best live album of all time.

Fix this.

I’ll just leave my wife know she’s got the newborn for the day

Don’t even listen to him that much but if you try and imagine what he was doing at the time he was doing it, it’s just inconceivable

I can’t even imagine anyone doing something similar now 40+ years on

Clearly you’ve not seen enough Vietnam War films.

I’m sure I’ve heard loads

Listened to him a bit. Found it grating. I guess I understand his influence and importance in counter culture terms, but truthfully he is one of the artists I am least likely to ever listen to

5 for the singles and the influence on who came after.

Of course all the “best guitarist ever” plaudits are completely justified, but he is often so underrated as a songwriter/composer.

I think I’m probably going to get very annoyed by this thread
