Other than that haven’t heard anything of his to convince me he’s anything other than disposable pop but tbf I’ve never sat down and listened to an album, so abstain/10
Pretty impressive set of singles from so few records. File under “would watch at a festival but not pay for a gig ticket”. I’d like to vote a 3.5, I’ve done a 4 so if someone else wants to vote 3.5 and votes 3 that would be nice
Thought the comeback was decent tbh, Suit & Tie/Mirrors are both solid. Seems to be happy to leave ages between albums and do his own thing which I rate
Couple of decent singles but not much of a career compared to the others in this list. I give him a 2 as he’s obviously not actively awful like Queen or RHCP.
I think of the big pop stars of the 21st century (sales and critical acclaim) he’s the one I’m most likely to listen to. Loads of really strong singles, his stuff with Timbaland had a big effect on the direction pop music went in for the following years. What Goes Around…Comes Around is a brilliant song, one of the best singles of the decade.
Would’ve have already had twenty comments saying “bangers” and “obviously a 5” if he had been a female artist who had exactly the same back catalogue.
Decent enough, though kind of a vehicle for the likes of the Neptunes and particularly Timbaland in their peaks, and has struggled to distinguish himself outside that/you wonder where he’d be otherwise. Even then I think he was probably a bit overhyped. 2.5/5, rounded down to 2.
