For anyone teetering - the live record Minimum - Maximum is absolutely mind blowing. It takes all those versions from The Mix up to the next level.

Considering it came out in 81, Computer World is just staggering. Numbers, in particular, is astonishing - could easily be a track on Drexciya’s Bubble Metropolis EP, a groundbreaking record that came out 12 years later.

Their combination of futurism, funk and love for the Beach Boys is ridiculously intoxicating.

Solid 5.

Been off DiS for a couple of days and totally missed this - gutted :frowning:

Would have been a 5 from me though. Some really lovely posts in this thread. Think I’m gonna go spending the day zoning out to Trans Europe Express.

Saw the 3D live show at T in the Park of all places and it was one of the most memorable shows I’ve ever been to. Loved it.

Only got one vote! Such a good track. Think that was probably the first track of theirs I heard as it wasn’t unusual to hear it mixed into Planet Rock on mixtapes. Guaranteed goosebumps every time I watch this video.

They’ve always been a band I’ve appreciated rather than liked, but I listened to Computer World for the first time the other night and fuck it’s good. Autobahn - Radioactivity - Trans Europe were the three I’ve spun before, and while I can see why folk like them, they were never for me.

Cheers to the Beastie Boys for playing Computer Love on their New Year’s Day 6Music show and showing me the way!

Never mind, “deny it,” most of those bands will gladly offer to tell you that they worship them! I know the Detroit guys do…

In fact, if that’s the bestival set I’m thinking of, I read a while back that none of the American guys playing another tent there accepted the same slot as kraftwerk because they all wanted to go and watch! :smiley: (Pretty sure the tent was just “off” when kraftwerk played.)

Sadly I think it’s because @Joke2000 had his old profile deleted or something?

He was doing the Christmas Day post and so I guess it was removed when all his posts were deleted. If you go in that thread there are a lot of replies to him that don’t connect to posts.
