Never really got into these guys but I met Gareth (?) once and he seemed really nice, and that never kiss a Tory t-shirt is iconic.

I predict a score of 3.03 - lock it in.

Seem like a very GBOL but I grew out of their music pretty quickly after Romance is Boring. 3

Absolutely one of the biggest ‘when I’m in the mood’ bands. Realistically that mood is nostalgia. First album came out when I was 16 and absolutely prime age for it.

Bit shit. Got a massive soft spot for them anyway. 3

Gareth seems a good egg too

4/5 for me. Saw them in Bath before the first album came out and absolutely loved them. Have really enjoyed their development musically and they’ve not put out anything I’ve hated, just a couple of records that don’t do much for me, but when they’re good, they’re fucking great. One of those bands I love but I can see easily why you wouldn’t. Also they are very very good eggs, do a lot to raise money and awareness for good and maybe less well-known causes, and Gareth is very good on a pub quiz team

In my last two years living in Cardiff, I used to go to a club night that was run by a guy who worked in the same shitty office as me. Absolutely lovely guy, with an exceptional eye for detail and remembering what songs everyone liked so he’d play them when we arrived.

Anyway, I’d left Cardiff by the time Los Camp! arrived, but You! Me! Dancing! is written about that club night. TBH I’ve not really kept up with them since their debut (in spite of having seen them live a couple of times) but it brings back nice memories, and they seem like good eggs. I’ve gone with a 3/5.

They’re fine. The very definition of “fine”. Literally nothing more I can say about them. Loved “Hold On Now Youngster”, saw them in Tunbridge Wells when they toured that, thought “Romance Is Boring” was decent but it didn’t grab me like the debut, then I kind of forgot about them. That is my take on Los Campesinos!

Really liked The International Tweexcore Underground but everything since then has been rubs. 2/5 for being a GBOL.

I briefly worked with one of them once. They were pretty nice. Musically they’re okay, I was just too old to really get them - as was alluded to upthread, you never fall in love with a band the way you fall in love with a band when you’re sixteen.

Yeah there’s probably a thread in ‘who was your 16 year old band’

I’ve been meaning to listen to Los Campesinos! ever since the debut came out, starting to think I may have missed the boat. They do seem rather like I would have liked them a lot, but I’m not sure I can give them a score based on how much I think I would like them.
