I’ve not listened to The Holy Bible in about 8 years. Putting it on now. 4st 7lb used to make me feel a bit sick.

I also remember being 18 and having to read up the lyrics because I had no fucking idea what he was singing. Oddly enough, Yes is now playing, and I can hear the lyrics clear as day.

THB is good but overlong to my ears. Nothinf else really moves me. 3.

OK, I still don’t understand anything he’s saying on the second track.

This is what I’m talking about. Imagine being given a lyric sheet and being told yeah, the chorus is in french and it’s Van Gogh’s last words. Probably. Write a hit" and then making THAT

Big fan of this version where they turn JDB’s guitar way down so he just screams bloody murder instead

I think we can all agree…all of us…every single one of us on these boards…that MSP wrote the best song with the word Tristessa in the title.

Cough.

Luke Haines beat them all.

Luke Haines is funny sometimes but his music is wank

I remember reading somewhere that the soundboard thought Richey was the lead guitarist, so turned his guitar up and James’ down. Love this video, if only for showing that Richey (sort of) could and did play guitar onstage.

4/5 for me, pls.

The Holy Bible is still totally awesome but that album stands alone in their back catalogue. Still, there’s enough massive tunes for great bunches of lads to spill their carlsbergs to in the other 4 main albums to make a mega best of set for a reformed V fest, the perfect warm up to a Saturday night stereophonics headline

(also pretty sure La Tristesse is one of the few songs where Richey actually plays on the studio version - that and No Surface, All Feeling IIRC)

I’d like to see a version of the Lion King written by the Manics, tbh.
