Gaye for him, obviously.

Ah, I see you’re Funkhouser, are you?

Very early banger. (Spot what the Velvet Underground took from this.)

5/5, love him so much, might have to stick some on today.

Obviously Inner City Blues is one of the best songs ever recorded

Metallica beneath Britney Spears. FFS guys.

5 from me. One of the very best. Not that it pays to compare these things really but I always slightly prefer Otis Redding’s voice for that rougher edge it has, but Marvin is still amazing. Capable of making anything soulful; sex ballads, bangers, songs about the environment etc. Easy 5.

You bet I smashed 5! One of my dad’s favourite artists meaning I grww up with him and I am super grateful

Fully behind @Icarus-Smicarus and @no-class about the pop music mafia now

On a separate note… going to have to listen to some Marvin Gaye today.

Think he’s a bit of a gap in my musical knowledge - can’t stand Sexual Healing and it put me off for a long time.

Entirely fair

Dad introduced me to the What’s Going On album when I was around 16. It’s really the only thing of that ilk he listens to, but for me it opened me up to a huge amount of music.

My favourite Gaye tracks:
Mercy Mercy Me
The World is Rated X
Inner City Blues
Got to Give It Up
I Heard It Through the Grapevine
Ego Tripping Out
Take This Heart of Mine
Hitch Hike
All The Way Around
I’ll Be Doggone
