My Mum was mainly listening to Gabrielle and Brian Adams at the time as I recall. Brian Adams could probably classify as mumrock - lots of my mates mums seemed to like him too.

summer of 69 is an ok song!

Mumrock:

Bryan Adams
Shania Twain
Enrique Iglesias
George Ezra

So true. My dad spent all his non work time on hobbies whilst my mum (who worked full time) did all the household stuff. Terrible really.

I like songs about old people looking back and reflecting on their life, do Massive Attack have any of those?

My dad likes opera and The Pogues, made for some very interesting car journeys.

I must admit I’ve got a big soft spot for Summer of '69. Big dumb widescreen MOR rock can be fun.

didn’t he do a duet with a popstar of the 90s that was alright too?

I’ve always thought Bryan Adam was probably a nice guy for whatever reason

I watched the first half of the BBCs yacht rock documentary the other day and there was a reasonable amount of chat saying that what became known as “yacht rock” was made popular initially through mums.

This was because during the 70s they tended to control the household spending budget, and therefore statistically speaking most record purchases were made by women.

I thought that was interesting.

Ironically a lot of the bands they were talking about are now very much considered “dad-rock”.

If he didn’t do that Robin Hood song that was no.1 for the whole of my childhood I’d probably have a wee soft spot for t’old Bryan. My dad put me through much worse music over the years.

Love that the Massive Attack thread is becoming the HGATR: Bryan Adams thread.

He does a lot of good work for charity and politically I think. I don’t doubt that he’s lovely, the worst ones musically always are.
