those drums are good and the only interesting thing they did for about a decade

that’s disappointing but I will blame them too then.

Not sure what there is to discuss there, you’ve pretty much summed it up.

How come people don’t like the s/t (black) album? is it considered too commercial?

It was so massive at the time, along with GnR I think Metallica were the biggest band around when I was in 6th form; way more popular than Nevermind era Nirvana.

Personally I just find the music pointless and dull so either a 1 or maybe a 2 as clearly they mean a lot to a lot of people and there are things I find more annoying - would be a real effort to listen to a whole song though.

Never forget

moshing is good: people looking after each other in the pit, helping up their fallen brothers, very socialist imo

I feel a grand proclamation incoming…

Always love it when a pit stops to help find a pair of lost glasses

people should recognise their collective responsibility not to fuck people up and not mosh, I’ve been in situations where people who are clearly not into it are getting shoved violently into a moshpit and bashed around, it’s enough to make me want to punch people in the face for being so inconsiderate.

I do like the black album, it’s got some massive bangers on it, but I find Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets far more exhilarating listens.

lost both my trainers somehow during a millencollin pit and everyone helped me get them back

I was at a Hawk Eyes show once where everyone stopped and got their phone torches out to help look for a lost contact lens. Nerdiest pit ever.

More fun that chatting about metal though, innit?

I think it’s great! Like thewarn said upthread, it came out at the time I was absorbing music like crazy and it’s an absolute monster. I’d never heard anything like Enter Sandman before.

Pit stopped at Hundred Reasons (RIP) once so someone could put a plaster on a cut someone else sustained.

Always. But the thread is the thread. Let the metallers have their day.

metal guy I know tried to make me watch a video of ken bigley getting beheaded once too. that is not cool

Was my first proper festival, the heat and lack of shade was tough to begin with, especially given that it was being soundtracked by Wicked Wisdom and Soil, but the Strapping Young Lad/Fishbone/Clutch triple header that followed was absolute magic.

That glasses thing has happened at a few shows (Flogging Molly, Municipal Waste and Anti Flag). Really lovely when it happens and people are crawling on the floor to help somebody they don’t know.
