Yeah tbf it’s a bit of an exclusionary practice. I got into a mosh pit at USA Nails the other day (my first in a good decade at least) after too many beers and after a while I noticed a couple of women who clearly wanted to be in front of the stage but couldn’t get near because of a few dudes have an unnecessary drunken pushing session. That’s really not fair.

It is somewhat of a shame, because I know people of all shapes and sizes who enjoy participating in a good ol’ pit. Metal pits in particular are often amongst the most caring environments for those involved I’ve come across at gigs, But unless there can be a safe space for both those that do and don’t want to take part, it is unfair on those that don’t want to participate, as they’re the ones that have to make way.

Pits are fun, and are often very friendly and caring of participants but not so much of SURROUNDING audience members

There is an unspoken rule that pits should only happen at the front and canter and only for a few rows, anyone tryong to start a pit anywhere else is an asshole. Try not to repeatedly bump into the people on a outakirts of thep pit
