Yeah his story is fascinating

got Vaudeville Villain on for the first time in ages and fucking hell, what a record

I’ve seen ‘him’ live a couple of times and one time in 2012 he actually turned up and it was fucking brilliant

An easy 5, probably my favourite rapper of all time or at least most important because he introduced me to a whole new world of music. He’s fallen off a cliff in the last decade but that late 90s to mid 2000s run is absolutely untouchable, with Madvillainy being my favourite rap album of all time. I love how the majority of the songs are around the 2/3 minute mark which gives it almost a punk energy, but also just the sheer range of samples and lyrics that creates a mini cinematic universe across one album.

My favourite track however wasn’t on the album, but on the Adult Swim mixtape from around the same time, though he did perform it the one time I saw him live which I marked out for:

I had completely forgotten about the track being discussed above, which is ironic because BORN LIKE THIS was actually that album that got me into DOOM. I font think I really noticed it at the time because I dismissed it as one of the weaker tracks and I quickly moved onto the rest of his discography. Listening back to it now, yeah its pretty disgusting and indefensible even as a performative piece.

Been enjoying these today.

Got to be honest, feels like the penny might finally be dropping for me today. I’m having a nice time.

Hurray! I just assumed you were a fan actually.

Rhymes Like Dimes will never not lighten my mood. “You thought the song was over, ha!”

Hadn’t listened to Vaudeville Villain before and it’s fucking brilliant. Operation: Doomsday was one that had left me cold when I tried it years ago but it’s hitting completely different today for whatever reason.

It’s a rare and exciting thing when your ears here something differently out of nowhere.

I like how the identity of Mr Fantastik remains a mystery.
Hopefully just one of his mates who happens to have cool style who just doesn’t care about being well-known or making a career out of it. Haha, classic DOOM really
