5 up to moon and Antarctica. 2 since. Round it to a generous 4.
Lonesome crowded west is so, so good. Going to have a listen today. Teeth like Godā€™s shoeshine might be my favourite ever album opener

Theyā€™ve always left me completely cold despite being the sort of thing that I would normally like. Doubtless I need to give them more of a try but Iā€™ve never really felt the impetus to do so. I know lots of people on here love them but I donā€™t see it for some reason. Theyā€™re obviously not ā€˜badā€™ though. 2.5 rounded down to 2 as plenty of others will make up the slack.

Meh/5. Never really got on with them like I should do. They seem like the type of band I should love, but I just havenā€™t clicked with them

Adding my voice to the ā€˜should like them but donā€™t reallyā€™ pile. I bought Good Newsā€¦ when it came out cause Float On is great and I enjoyed it but I havenā€™t listened to it in years and everything else I tried of theirs before and after has left me cold. 2 maybe.

Huge, huge 5. This is a Long Drive, Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon and Antarctica is an incredible opening trio, the Lonesome Crowded West is one of the great epic albums.

Think their ā€œdeclineā€ is hugely exaggerated too, Good News and We Were Dead are both really good and even the last one had lots of good stuff. Loads of good stuff on the early EPs too.

If good newsā€¦ Wins the album poll Iā€™m closing the boards for an hour

How good are they? Modestly good. (3)

While itā€™s their fourth best album, itā€™s still a very strong 4/generous 5 imo.

Gone for a 4, I like everything up to Good News, the rest leaves me a bit cold.

Lonesome Crowded West is so so good though. Fave song off it, and the way it 1-2ā€™s with Trailer Trash is so good.

I saw them live once and it was a really excellent gig which is basically why theyā€™re a 3 not a 2.

Absolutely loved them when I was at uni and saw them live a fair few times (why did I used to see the same band multiple times on the same tour? What a waste of money) but never go back to listen to them now. Used to be brilliant lyrically though. 3

This used to be the last song I played before I was about to go on a night out

Gone for a 4. Lonesome and Moon & Antarctica are great. Probably being a bit more generous as the TV and mineā€™s first dance at our wedding was float on.

Nailed on 4. Lonesome Crowded West and Moon and Antarctica are flat-out masterpieces, Good News and We Were Dead are less good but still have their charms. Float On is probably their worst song.

Easy 5 for me. I was about 16 and Iā€™ll never forget the first time I heard Dramamine and to this day it still gives me chills. They are one of those comfort bands for me

thanks for doing this on a Friday, got the dayā€™s soundrack sorted :sunflower:

A lot of snobbery about that and Good News, people making out that because theyā€™d written some songs with hooks in theyā€™d gone to shit. Both great albums.
