Can’t really give them more than a 3. Three Cheers was a decent pop punk album with a goth twist, but I haven’t listened to it for a long time. Black Parade was quite exciting at the time, felt like they were attempting something quite outrageous and dramatic, but aside from a couple of songs it hasn’t held up at all, just feels like a drama school project. Actually might vote 2.

Fucking loved these lads as a teenager - exactly the right age for Black Parade - and not ashamed to say I still enjoy their first 3 albums. I will return in due course to elaborate and/or perk up the thread after a dozen joyless 1/5s have been doled out.

Also, I may or may not have written a series of light hearted scripts as a teenager (I think they were called Fame School) where I went to school alongside an array of celebrities and all the men from bands I fancied were in my classes and, astonishingly, fancied me back. Gerard and Mikey Way were involved in an interfamilial war for my love. I am definitely ashamed of this.

Three Cheers is one of my all time favourite records. So many bangers.

I was a bit past it by the time Black Parade came out and not listened to anything else, but a generous 3 on the strength of Three Cheers

I haven’t heard a full song of theirs. What I did hear I didn’t like.
Abstain.

Inexplicably, metalcore, hip-hop and D’n’B loving housemate got massively into them in uni. I think it started off as a joke to piss the rest of us off, but then he accidentally converted himself.

One of those bands whose best song captures what they’re about so perfectly and wholly that there’s really no need for them to have made any other music. 2 on the strength of Helena though

Never a fan but, Teenagers was a fun song back in the day. 2/5

Gonna give them a 3 I think. Three Cheers is a good record and Black Parade is ridiculous in a good way with great singles. They always seemed to be in on the joke which I like.

I remember Three Cheers… being just such a fun pop punk record, flowing so well with so many great tunes. I loved how hammy the vocals are, it really pushes it over the edge.

Didn’t really listen to anything else as I think The Black Parade came out right when I stopped getting into that kind of stuff, but I’ll give Three Cheers…another go over the next two days, and if it still lights up my cold, 33-year old heart, I’ll give them a 3.

Only know one of their songs, which is Black Parade (sic)- which sounds like something The Arcade Fire wish they’d written. Can’t really give them a mark on the one song I’ve heard so abstain/5

First album is a solid punk rock album. Geoff from Thursday produced it ao I give it a bonus point for that

I remember seeing the original video for i’m Not Okay on either p rock or Scuzz and loving it. Went out and bought 3 Cheers and they were ‘my’ band. Then they rmade a new video and went huge. 3 Cheers still holds up, the first half is great.

Black Parade (aside from the title track) and everything since is terrible.

Give them a generous 3

Really?! Arcade Fire? Not sure that’s who I would have gone with, they’ve never really done glam rock, why them?

One of the guitarists was in Give Up The Ghost/American Nightmare for a bit which still amuses me

Oh it’s a 5. Mutes thread

Oh really, who?

Oh forgot to put in my original post, Frank Iero’s solo stuff is surprisingly good
