Great pick @anon19035908. It’s electrifying to listen to her sing and play after an emotional week.

A couple more picks that come to mind and haven’t been discussed in the thread so far.

Little Girl Blue Live. Nina singing an old broadway number over a piano refrain of Good King Wenceslas. Who knew that could be so beautiful? Utterly flawless.

Strange Fruit. Couldn’t pick between her version and Billie Holiday’s…and neither are songs to play too often, but this is about as brutal and haunting as music gets:

Franklin has form for doing this to Simone; both times Nina was nominated for Grammy’s within her lifetime, Aretha won. Guess this is 3-0.

In truth, both such incredibly talented geniuses that splitting hairs between them isn’t necessary and we can just presumably agree they are two of the greatest of all time. It’s a bit like Messi and Ronaldo, except we do actually like both of the singers.

That means that more than half of those that voted gave her 5, which is pretty incredible if you think about it. Aretha is the only other artist where we know that this is the case.

Yeah the lower number of voters for Aretha has really come into play here. I wonder if that number would be higher if we’d done her thread on the music board.
