First band I ever liked, got me into music so a big thanks to them for that.
No one else where I lived liked guitar music it was all crap rave stuff and I was considered an oddball for liking a band.
The laddishness has led to shit but as a working class lad in an estate it was mind blowing to see that people like me could achieve great things.
Saw them a bunch of times. Bought all the albums and payed stupid money for the Japanese EPs, got live bootlegs, demos etc

Random thoughts:

  • Some great music, some poor, some shit.
  • First few albums and bsides were great.
  • The bands that took the (bad) attitude and have none of the songwriting ability and followed in their wake are a blight on music.
  • Imagine getting Andy Bell to join your band and sticking him on bass, then having all your fans sing ‘who the fuck is Andy Bell?’ at all your gigs.
  • Only band I’ve ever seen where there’s a mass crowd brawl at every show.

I truly hate Oasis.
I was in my first year of Uni when they came out and I was baffled when they exploded everywhere, the indie nights were playing 3 or 4 songs a night from the first album and it got worse when the second dropped.
Everything about them as a band is awful (apart from Live Forever) and they helped relaunch shite like Paul Weller and a generation of pub rock that never should have seen the light of day.

Have said don’t know because I can’t play anything by ear, but if you told me the chords then yeah, I could.

Bet none of you nerds ever had this haircut

Spent £500 on a coat that matched that haircut when i was 17 because oasis were basically coats and haircuts

Which 3 contemporary bands do you think have the everyman appeal that you feel should be the top 3?

Used to love them - still happy to hear anything from the first two albums. I was the right age to be properly excited about Be here now, which was awful (except track 1).

I maintain that there are occasional flecks of gold amongst the mulch of the rest of their catalogue. Had panic (live), Sunday morning call, force of nature, let there be love & turn up the sun spring to mind instantly.

and round John Lennon glasses.

If Oasis play knebworth it’s foraging. If Coldplay play knebworth it’s looting.

Nope, hate john lennon

Remember being in Filey the day it was released. Radio 1 were playing one track an hour from it. Fairly sure I refused to go to the beach in case I missed one of the tracks.

Of course not

Please tell me you still have this and that its framed.
Also are you Pete Doherty?

Will have a look if i’ve still got it.
I’ve definitely go the first cd singles in the cigarette boxes that they did. You could buy and empty box if you’d already got the singles
