Rated R Gets a 5, listened to that so much. SftD was disappointing at the time, thought it was a bit of a slog but does have plenty of highlights looking back, only occasional interest since then, 3 or 4 overall

Generous 5 for two absolutey stellar albums in Rated R and Songs for the Deaf. Really glad I saw them on the Songs for the Deaf tour as I felt there was a steep decline in quality of output after that - quite like Little Sister and Burn the Witch off Lullabies but there is a lot of forgettable stuff there. But the 2003 set made from those first three albums was perfect.

The opening radio skit into the false start before the proper riff kicks in on Songs for the Deaf has a real Pavlovian response in me, absolutely love it.

Been a lot of 3s recently

best song

4/5 for me as there’s a lot of shite but the good is very good

Very curious as to where this is going to go.

I like them. Really liked Clockwork and Lullabys.

Loved Rated R and Songs for the Deaf at the time. Haven’t been remotely bothered by anything since.

3 maybe?

I saw them on the Rated R tour. In Folkestone. My Vitriol were the support.

Also, Kyuss > QOTSA

Probably scraped a 3

why? I don’t think Kyuss are as versatile

Probably a 3. Seen them a few times but, the last time at the MEN during the tour for the last album was extremely uncomfortable the crowd was awful, what’s new at the MEN, and Homme seemed I don’t know maybe inebriated beyond the point of it being fun. :man_shrugging: It wasn’t long after this that he kicked that camera out of the photographers hand.

Oh you’re right that Kyuss are less varied - but personally I love that sabbathy groove.

It’s probably also because I heard Kyuss when they were still in active band (and therefore before QOTSA existed).

… Like Clockwork is incredible. Probably my favourite rock :metal: album of all time.

First 3 albums - great (probably heavily nostalgia driven though)
The rest - pretty boring with a smattering of decent stuff thrown in

Gonna score a generous 3/5.

Really good band. I like them a lot, without being an authority on them in any way. A 4 from me. Might have to give them a good ol’ blast today to drown out the builders.

Shame yer man’s a dickhead. Nothings really done it for me since sftd but thats a great album. 3.52 probably.

…Like Clockwork definitely deserves more love. I Sat By The Ocean, My God is the Sun and I Appear Missing are all top tier QOTSA.

When I was young for some reason I thought The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret was the theme tune to Mission: Impossible.

For this alone, a strong 4

I have a copy of Rated R, but it’s not something I go back to, particularly. A couple of songs I like, can’t be arsed with the whole schtick, Josh Homme seems like a bit of a tool. (Though I’m not sure - has he sorted himself out a bit after that photographer incident? IDK).

It’s a 2 from me, anyway.
