He’s good.

Not familiar with much of The Walker Brothers stuff or his later more experimental work (i think i listened to Tilt once and decided it was too painful). The ‘Scott’ records are all great though, love the instrumentation, the themes, the Brel covers, some wonderful stuff on those. He’s probably a slightly underrated lyricist too, some of his words are fantastic.

Scott 4 often seems to get the most praise, but for me Scott 3 is my favourite. It’s the perfect mix of the bombastic orchestral stuff, his most interesting Brel covers and some wonderful original work. That opening trip of It’s Raining Again, Copenhagen and Rosemary is as good as it gets.

Too out there for me.

Abstain

Had a lovely, solitary moment on a morning run the other week which coincided with Black Sheep Boy playing. Had to belt it as there was no one around to hear me.

Only really know Scotts 2 and 4 but I love them. Remember giving Tilt a go once and not getting on with it. 4

He’s amazing. I love pretty much all of it and even the bad records get a pass. The Drift is one of my favourite albums of all time. Absolutely nobody like him and has been copied to no end. 5.

I’ve only heard ‘scott’ (didn’t like much) and the drift (very good). Will check out Scott 3 and 4 today before voting.

Listen to Scott 4.

I don’t want to start listening to anyone new (to me) with this many albums in case I really like them and want to buy their records

Guy’s the absolute best. Easy five.

Tough one. I’ve gone for Scott 4 but nowadays probably listen to Climate of Hunter way more.

Those later albums are so rich and dense that I struggle to listen to them in one sitting.

Oof. Massive five. That single choice was hard. Don’t think any artist has covered more ground than him. Not always been successful (most notably a terrible run of albums post Scott 4) but some absolute genius across five decades of recording.

This might be my favourite track of his;

But I’m not entirely sure. This is up there too;

Both tracks sound extremely dated but in a way that suits them.

Oh and Farmer In The City is incredible too;

Nailed on 5. Genius.
Not sure whether to go with Scott 4 or Tilt for best album.

The ‘carouselllllllllls’ + music box ending to this is so perfect.
