That Kerrang All out of bubble gum tour? Saw that at Bradford Rios only with Breed 77 (Not bad considering) rather than liberty 37.

OMS were good performers but Pulkas were a significantly better band on all fronts.

Your next job could be in

You just don’t know it yet.
Hopefully not.

I tried to listen to this Code Orange album a few months back. It’s really annoying and sounds like killswitch engage having an affair with a bunch of horny robots

I love it when DiS has a collective nu metal flashback. Just sat here listening to Defenestration in 2020 like it’s the most normal thing in the world. Lovely stuff.

Someone should probably talk about Slipknot at some point but I cba tbh

they’re quite an odd band in general, can never make my mind on if they’re really clever or try-hard, like they covered Web in Front by Archers of Loaf once, one of my favourite ever songs, and it was atrocious but it came across like they thought’s they done something really inventive like Deafheaven’s cover of Punk Rock/CODY by Mogwai.

I do quite enjoy how chaotic the first album is though where they actually do a decent Converge impression

mind Kittie? They were class like

i don’t really like 'em but think they are fairly legit. Think they seem like decent enough chaps who came through hardcore but are literally going to mess around with any of their influences and not really care.

hardcore in particular seems to be a fertile ground for nu metal influence which is interesting. A lot of bands labelled as fresh/exciting/giving the scene a kick seem to have that influence. I think maybe more comes from poppy metalcore than nu metal though. I do wonder how much of of the nu metal is direct and how much a consequence of bands like code orange also as they have become massive. There was another band who for the life of me i can’t remember the name of, but a few years back were being hailed as the next big thing in hardcore and when i listened i couldn’t believe how it sounded like sub-par nu metal!

Stumbled across this absolute gem on Defenestration’s wiki:

I’m Fashion You’re Victim.

I had their first album. I liked a few tracks quite a lot as I recall. Didn’t get on with the second - I think I’d decided I was above all that by then and gone into my emo/post-hardcore phase. Which was just the same amount of angst but in slightly tighter trousers.

Don’t mind a bit of Slipknot tbh. Loved those first few records (absolutely mad how HUGE Iowa was in retrospect) and have been meaning to check out last years release too (maybe this is the week to get around to that). A friend saw them at Cardiff Motorpoint earlier on this year and they said it was absolute carnage! Just heavy riffs and wild pyrotechnics. Was kinda jealous I didn’t go really.

Sadly didn’t have a People = Shit hoodie but do remember seeing a lot of them around in town / at school etc and doing like a silent nod of approval

Was also probably more into Korn at the time but definitely more likely to stick on some Slippy-K now.

I’m Fashion…You’re Victim?

My brain just recoils in horror when I try to work out whatever the fuck that means.

I think it’s largely just generational tbh, the current crop of kids making this kind of music remember nu-metal from their youth and lived through the hardcore scene’s culture, it’s not that much of a push any more really. Like I forget Code Orange also have moments that sound like Title Fight, AND they’ve done lots of stuff with WWE, they should really be one of my favourite bands with all those things considered.

LOVE their WWE stuff though

I assume had COVID not happened they would have been playing Bray in this Mania… maybe next year eh

I saw Code Orange Kids with Full of Hell support Circle Takes The Square in a pub and thought they were insanely good, listened to an album and was horrified. Awful band and they take themselves so seriously

36 Crazyfists?

Remember my mate being obsessed with them, putting Bitterness The Star on while playing Warhammer and the self titled boyhitscar album.

A shared experience of almost everyone in this thread (I’m guessing).

Another one I forgot existed, quite liked a few of their songs. FINE TIER.
