She’s going to score higher than Beyoncé isn’t she.

A seat at the table is superb. Saadiq production touches all over that record. Didn’t think when I get home was nearly as good. Don’t really rate the first 3 releases barring a few tracks.

3.5/5 prob

A 5 just for a seat at the table and when I get home. A seat at the table was an instant classic but find myself going back to when I get home more these days - a definite grower.

Anyone read why solange matters yet? Keep meaning to check it out.

First artist I’ve really liked for ages

one of my fav songs ever
Probs a 4 overall but potential future 5. Agree that she shouldn’t score higher than Beyonce but will

Not yet but, there is an extract on the quietus:

5/5 obviously

She’s been brilliant everytime I’ve seen her live. Love artists that have a vision and execute it this well and stick to their guns.

Would love to hear the album that was allegedly completed with Dev Hynes and also really want to know what happened between them at the time as there were rumours they had a big falling out.

An easy 5. Very very special artist, and she’s only getting started.

Never heard a note of her music. We’ll give her a listen.

She can’t just be getting started, she’s older than me! 1

I didn’t know the first two albums but I did tire of the two later ones pretty quickly. Some nice moments on each but as things stand she’s only a 2 for me, albeit one whose future work I would definitely check out.

The True EP is truly incredible.

A Seat At The Table was one of the best albums of that decade. When I Get Home was mostly a snoozefest, one of the most disappointing follow-ups I can remember. It’s a 4 for me

Only really know a Seat At The Table, but played that a bunch when it came out. Caught her headlining the Friday night of Latitude back in 2018, and that was a lovely set:

Will listen more, but from what I do know she’s a 4 :+1:

Went for a five. Not into the first two albums but one of them was released when she was a teenager and I’m a big fan of hearing an artist ‘find’/evolve their sound anyways.

The True EP is great and Losing You is a solid gold B-A-N-G-E-R but I am glad she is doing what she is doing now rather than trying to release more poppy hits. Both When I Get Home and A Seat at the Table are so so good, although the latter does get way more plays just by virtue of having more fully formed songs (whereas I kinda need to listen to all of WIGH to feel anything). I enjoy that she is pushing the envelope conceptually, loved all the black cowboy imagery with WIGH, and she is just incredibly cool.

Always remember missing the end of Arcade Fire’s surprise set at Primavera to sprint over and catch the start of hers. Those two sets back-to-back were so so good that I just got giddy blackout drunk for the rest of the night and can’t really remember anything else. It was the A Seat at the Table show with the big glowing orb, perfectly glowing brighter as the actual sun set opposite.

Not sure it’s out yet, by which I mean I pre-ordered it and haven’t received it yet.
