Yeah, shameless cash in and weird that’s their only best of. The tracklist is actually pretty good though, from a casual point of view.

Edit: Want to add I don’t actually own it/didn’t buy it.

Can’t say I’ve listened to it a lot but this is the one TM solo album I’ve liked. He released a multi cd set last year (I think) that was described as experimental and (like someone else has described his solo stuff up thread) sounded like pub rock. Was really disappointing.

Oof, never got round to listening to that one. Might not bother now.

I’ve only got Electric Trim which starts well but gets a little bit boring. Been meaning to revisit his previous solo records though as his SY songs are always my favourites

I think I own that Starbucks best of. Such a weird thing to do, pretty sure I bought it because it was so out of character.

Although not a full career best of, this is great:

Has there been any ciccone youth chat yet? I like into the groove(y) almost as much as into the groove.

Conversely, on the mudhoney split i much prefer mudhoneys version of halloween to sonic youths touch me im sick.

‘Macbeth’ got mentioned a few times. Definitely one of the best things they ever did.

Really like the version of ‘Making The Nature Scene’ on The Whitey Album. The album is a bit of a lark but there’s some good stuff on it.

I liked Rock n Roll Consciousness.

Washing Machine… is good

Yes! That is a gorgeous track

didn’t they try to play it off like ‘technically releasing a record through starbucks is punk as fuck’

I kind of have more respect for them if they did because that is some absolutely bonkers indie psy ops

Wasn’t the tracklist of the Starbucks thing made up of other people picking their favourite SY track? Seem to remeber Radiohead picking Kool Thing.

Save it for the Stereophonics HGATR buddy

oh no this was it, starbucks is less evil than universal

i haven’t listened to it since it came out but i remember thinking it was a bit boring. Cease Fire was great but he left it off the album for some reason!

Would love to hear their workings on that assertion :joy:

I thought Dylan had released a Starbucks album as well but just looked it up and doesn’t seem to have done. Paul Simon did though so maybe that’s who I was thinking of.
