She is such a hero & made some phenomenal records both solo & with Rotary Connection as well as backing vocals for like everyone on Chess in the 60s. Such a tragic story to be hit with breast cancer right at the peak of her career but what a warrior in spending her time left campaining and raising funds for breast cancer awareness & research. Really shouldn’t be niche, I could write loads about how much I love her and her music

“plodding” fucking hell.
Worst take ever

what music/bands do you like?

i’m certain there’s stuff from the 70’s anyone would like, even if the big names don’t do it for them

it’s a fact that the 70’s were a great time for music production (and you’re only allowed to disagree with me on that if you can actually back up your reasons with accurate and valid points - this is beyond opinion)

don’t think I dislike many more songs than Superstitious

There’s no point in engaging with generalisations in these threads I think. Every decade has amazing music, people just may not have heard it. If they want they’ll get there under their own steam.

Been listening to Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions over the last couple of days to remind myself of them. I think Stevie’s probably a genius. However, I also think I don’t enjoy his music very much. :man_shrugging:

Have listened to Innervisions 3-4 times off the back of this thread and am really enjoying it. Don’t feel qualified to vote yet, though.
Weirdly, Songs in the Key of Life doesn’t appear on Spotify when I search for it in the app, but a working spotify link shows up when I google it

Correct

Thanks meths.

F all Y Is, will close this poll tomorrow morning before starting the next one.

Listened to Innervisions yesterday afternoon. Didn’t particularly enjoy it but also didn’t hate it as I expected. Was more diverse in sound than I expected, it’s clearly well put together and all the stories in this thread make him seem like a top boy but I just don’t get on with the style.

Scribbled this down at one point, which encapsulates my thoughts:
"Jesus Children of America

  • starts off not so funky with really nice intersting vocal
Quickly starts to sproing around too much"

Sorry Stevie.

what a song

5 for me no question.

Surprised to see Music Of My Mind not listed in the albums list?

Probably his last genuinely great song, this is from the closing credits of Jungle Fever and ludicrously it was never on an album

I think it’s my favourite song nearly.

don’t know how he managed to write so many sweet love songs on that album without them sounding fake or cloying, shouldn’t really be possible

this is amazing, got sent it over MSN about 15 years ago
