Indie points now issued for being anti-indie? Is this a thing now? I dunno lol!

Unlucky here vine, I happen to love S Club 7. You’re getting a banning for that!

if you ban me so help me i will ban you

They’re good, but I can’t really rate them higher than Girls Aloud. A collection of very decent songs, but ultimately only a 3.

Their big singles are all great, with the exception of About You Now which I can’t get on with at all. Remember being really freaked out by Overload when I was younger, had never really heard a song like it on the radio before. And I think that was a lot of what made them great – it’s pop music but it seemed to have a bit of an edge to it and they seemed so cool in comparison to anyone similar at the time. Had big teenage crushes on the Mutya/Keisha/Heidi lineup.

One of those pop acts where there are half a dozen colossal singles but a dozen very middling others and albums that are full of filler.

5/5 for the bangers, 2/5 for everything else. A middling 3 for me.

This is just like my school, except we didn’t produce the Sugababes, George Michael or Courtney Pine.

Think this sums up my take. Used to stick their greatest hits on a lot but there was still a fair few I’d skip. Some genuinely great pop though so 3/5

What about that weird bit when there was that one Sugababes song and that one Craig David song with the Sting sample (or The Police or whatever, who gives a shit) and they were both out at exactly the same time.

I think they’re crap.

When I was younger I totally dismissed them, like a big snobby wank. Then one day, I was stuck in work at The Link and Freak Like Me was on the hour long CD disc “Link Radio Station” thing that Simon Mayo presented, and it stuck out so much above the rest of the dross.

So I went to Fopp, picked up the album that was on and told no one. No way was I letting that one get out.

But by jive it was good. Better than good, it was incredible. And ever since I’ve been a huge fan. Their appropriation of mid 1990s electro is and was so forward thinking compared to anything else in the charts it was like a slap.

Yeah, I reckon in the past I might have said Girls Aloud were better, but the thing is I rarely go back to Girls Aloud these days, but I go back. To Sugababes a lot more. And have more fun too.

What happened with this stuff joke?

I’m not sure anyone really knows. It’s sad, they played shows and had a whole album ready and then… nothing. Think most assume another falling out happened, but as far as I’m aware no one knows the full story. I hope someone is more clued in than I am…

4/5 - by some distance the best British pop group of the 00s. A point off only for carrying on far too long post Mutya.

Probably a 3 due to the later lineups dragging the score down.

Bumped up to a 4 by Siobhan’s solo albums being properly great

just fyi
