there was an incredible 5.1 downmix of remain in light on youtube. best I’ve ever heard it sound. been deleted though by the looks of things. oh well

There’s not many I actively dislike that we’ve covered but it gets a bit spotty from Fleetwood Mac onwards

Did think that as I was writing it. But fuck it, I’m not dumbing myself down for some lameass funk dabblers.

We’ve talked about this before but I don’t entirely share this sentiment. Though I do agree it gets harder to be properly wowed by stuff as one gets older I still think it’s very much impossible to be wowed by stuff (for instance, Big Thief, Protomartyr as recent examples) but it may be because I’m still pretty engaged with making, observing and discussing music on a critical level? Idk, that probably sounds dead patronising

I think there has to be something “new” about it to wow though, right?

It’s the “yeah, alright, I get it, fine” reaction that I have to most “bands” I hear now. The exceptions have made me go “oh, I’ve not heard anything like this before”

have you ever read the book the electric muse, about folk rock?

I also like bands and music

And do you still feel excited by new bands and music?
