Easy 5. Got into them through Speaking in Tongues so that remains my favourite.

Pull Up the Roots is my fave song by them.

When I was little my dad used to dance around the house singing Psycho Killer, in his very strong geordie accent.

Fear of Music, Remain in Light and Speaking in Tongues are incredible.

I saw David Byrne on the American Utopia tour. Easily one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. The Talking Heads material was :chefs kiss:

It popped into my head as soon as I saw the thread title. The only thing I’ve got prepared for these threads is some opening remarks for the great Steely Dan debate.

I have opinions and anecdotes to add but it’s my day off and I’m strongly considering going back to sleep first.

5/5 for Stop Making Sense alone. Cheers

A great band but i’m nor overly familiar with their deeper cuts - so a 4 for that reason.

Anyone got any good recommendations for album tracks/deeper cuts that are good?

Hard 5. Think ‘The Name of This Band is Talking Heads’ is my favourite of theirs. Love the flip of the tight, twitchy Talking Heads on the first disc versus the expanded big band sound on the second. Such a fucking great band.

The worst band of all time. Absolutely terrible, cannot stand them

Bought this for a friend hoping to get a lend once they finished it, never happened, might order now.

Going to defend the much maligned True Stories. The film was my gateway. Videod it when it was on Moviedrome and must have watched it fifty times as a kid.

A take hotter than the surface of the sun.

The first 5 albums are essential. Fear of Music is my personal fav

I guess they have a fear of music

Never listened to them but know the singles obvs. Will try listen to the top albums

The only thing I dislike about Talking Heads is that when I started really getting into them beyond the obvious singles, I quickly realised that a number of more modern bands I like and thought were doing something interesting are basically just clones of Talking Heads. 5/5.

Sorry, never got on with them. There’s something way too smug and self consciously clever about their music for me. It aims for cerebral where it should be instinctive, Apollonian where it should be Dionysian, and finishes up as bloodless and weak. Of course I realise in a forum full of Radiohead fans these are positives safetywink but they’re not for me, Clive.

Moonwalks out of thread, goes and puts on a Funkadelic album instead

5 - one of the greatest bands ever and every album up to and including Little Creatures is excellent. Plus there’s Stop Making Sense.

I’d rather stand on the surface of the sun then listen to Talking Heads’ cartoon music

when i got into vinyl proper around 2009, it was so easy to find talking heads albums second hand. i got the full set for £2 a pop in near mint condition.

however, i was surprised cos before that i’d just pirated them all and shared them with my friend. we both got mega into those albums but had no idea that every version i’d downloading was missing a middle track. was a surprise when i listened to the LPs for the first time
